Who is it for?

For food handlers in the catering and hospitality industries who need grounding in the basic principles of food hygiene and who wish to opt to take the examination through the medium of Welsh

  • Award Accredited by the Department of Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DELLS) and QCA
  • Specially designed for the catering and hospitality industries
  • Fully compliant with the requirements of the new food hygiene regulations (January 2006)
  • Developed in partnership with People 1st (the sector skills council for the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries
Includes:
  • how workers should behave responsibly within food safety procedures
  • an outline of personal hygiene procedures
  • keeping the working area clean and hygienic
  • receiving and storing food safely
  • the safe preparation, cooking, holding and serving of food
9 guided learning hours (suitable for one-day intensive or part time courses)
30 multiple choice questions to be completed in 40 minutes

RSPH Approved centres can request examination papers in Welsh and may if they wish request a mix of English and Welsh papers for the same session. Download the form here
