The Society’s Armourial Bearings

The design may be interpreted as follows:

The shield represents the health-giving rays of the sun, pure water and an azure sky free from atmospheric pollution;

The crest denotes the need for health-giving foods, while the seven apples represent preventative medicine;

The supporters consist of Hygeia, the goddess of health, and a stork for maternity and child welfare;

The whole supported on the fertile earth from which proceeds man’s sustenance.

A free translation of the Latin inscription "Salus generis humanis", which appears on the coat of arms, would be "Health is the foundation of the human race".
