NGO Forum moves to
new home
The NGO Forum is now hosted by the Royal Society for Health after a tendering exercise. Making this announcement, Dr Fiona Adshead, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer of the Department of Health and the Co-Chair of the NGO Forum, says, "I am pleased that the Forum is now hosted by a voluntary organisation. This move is an opportunity to strengthen the role of the Forum as a method for government to engage with the third sector." Richard Parish, Chief Executive of the Royal Society for Health, adds, "I am delighted that we were chosen to host the NGO Forum. This is ideal as the RSH and the Forum have complimentary aims and objectives. The arrangement will mean that both the RSH and the Forum will gain enormously by being brought together." Ian Gray of the Chartered Institute for Environmental Health currently is the other Co-Chair representing the 75 NGO Forum members. "I think this is a wonderful opportunity for the Forum to expand its role and develop links with new organisation in both the voluntary and statutory sectors." The NGO Forum is a membership organisation, funded by the Department
of Health, which facilitates dialogue between national policy makers and
NGOs on ways to improve public health and reduce health inequalities.
As a champion of effective engagement with NGOs, the Forum has a significant
role to play in helping with the delivery of the public health agenda.
National non-profit organisations that have a role in public health are
welcome to join the NGO Forum.
