Future of public health
in Wales explored at Royal Society of Health dinner
The Royal Society of Health will this evening (13 June 2006) host a dinner in Cardiff bringing together key members of the Welsh public health community.
The evening will feature a speech from the Chief Medical Officer for Wales, Dr Tony Jewell, who will outline his vision for the future of public health in Wales. Dr Jewell, who was appointed CMO for Wales in April this year, has promised to bring a fresh pair of eyes to the job of protecting and improving the health of the nation. As the Royal Society of Health moves its thinking forward into the future it is looking to establish partnerships across traditional boundaries. Guests at tonight's dinner will include representatives from health boards, universities, Welsh government officials, those working in health services and health promotion, commerce and industry and fellows of the Society based in Wales. Chief Executive of the Royal Society of Health, Professor Richard Parish said, The Society welcomes the appointment of Dr Jewell as Chief Medical Officer and looks forward to helping move the health agenda forward in Wales.
